100 word challenge

War

Will this be the end? I whispered to myself, as I watched a river of my very own rose red blood pouring out of my weak limp body. I clutched my arm and started up the tall vast hill. I paused suddenly then I lay on my back and started weeping uncontrollably, I remembered the last words of my husband, children, parents and all the rest of my family. That's when I saw the lake, I ran all the way back down the hill with all my strength and plunged in, I saw no reason in living without my family.

Amazon Rainforest

The wind whistles softly through the leaves. The river gleams like a thousand diamonds. The trees sway as if they are dancing to a beautiful melody. The birds tweet softly like a lullaby. The fish glide through the water with one flick of their elegant tail. The leopard forages around the   forest rummaging for prey. The sun shines through the thorny branches of a sandbox tree. This is the Amazon Rainforest!

My second accident

My second accident

I screamed in pain as my chin hit the slippery wet tiles. I could feel blood pouring out of my cracked chin the water turned a bold Red I was almost unconscious. I could feel my head tilting backwards. "This the end I'm going to die" I thought to myself. I tried shouting for help, no use I couldn't even whisper I was too weak and hurt. Suddenly someone grabbed me hard and pulled me out of the water Mum came rushing she picked me up wrapped me in a cold wet towel and rushed me to the foyer.

Mums friend Jenny who is a doctor (luckily!) put some annoying butterfly stitches on my bloodied chin then  I was rushed to the doctors.

After I came out I had huge white plaster things all over my little chin. It looked like  I had a thick white beard. That was my 2/3 chin accident!

Weekly reflection

This week I have started doing maths strategy's on decimals. Rounding with decimals is very hard for me but I'm getting there! In reading I have been doing novel study but the activity I'm doing takes ages it's re-designing the book cover. In writing I have just finished a story called my second accident out of three all in the same place on my chin! This week has been challenging and fun! -Tia. H

Drama

This week room 10 has started a new type of art... DRAMA! I have already learnt a lot like how to mime really well and also how to work better as a team. In 1 activity your group would get a secret letter like T perhaps. Then your group would have to mime as many things starting with that letter before the time is up. I really enjoy drama and I think every class should do it.

My piece of art is about my great, great, great, great uncle. He once owned the Ironworks in Merthyr-tydfil. My art should represent him and what he did, he produced the iron and coal for people to make things, like  Boats and even the first steam train.

Weekly reflection

This week has been lots of fun. I have accomplished lots in Maths now I know how to Multiply tens and hundreds but I’m still working on thousands. In writing I have made a book review and published it on a website called book-tastic. I have also started a very good book called my brothers war Its about 1 boy who went to war and the boys brother who went to jail for rejecting. I have had a great week-Tia.H

Book Review

Book Review

I enjoyed reading Awful auntie by David Walliams.

It was about a young girl named Stella who is living with her Aunt Alberta. Her Auntie wants to rule Saxby hall. She murdered Stella’s father and mother (her brother and sister in law) and now that Saxby hall is Stella’s she is planning to kill her too!

Characters:

Soot : He is a ghost. He was Stella’s uncle Herbert and murdered by his sister Alberta.

Stella: Lady Saxby the Heir to Saxby hall.

Alberta: Stella’s evil Auntie who poisoned Stella’s parents and murdered Uncle Herbert and is trying to kill Stella!

Wagner: Alberta’s beloved and evil owl.

My favourite part of the book is when Stella and Soot play lots of tricks on Alberta, and when detective strauss comes which is Alberta in disguise

and at the start when Alberta pretends that there was a ‘accident’ and Stella’s parents died, then Stella ended up in a coma which was just bandages.

Out of 1 to 10 I would rate this book an 8 it was fun to read. I think that boy’s and girl’s will enjoy this book, and that people between 7-14 will enjoy it most.

 

Weekly reflection

This week I have learnt that multiplying is the same as repeated addition like 3 times 5= 15 is the same as 5+5+5=15. In writing I have done well in putting in lots of wow words and I’m really enjoying writing it's lots of fun. In reading I have done well in my reading goal I can identify the author’s purpose for writing the text. I have started a new doc about hypothermia and is called under the mountain docs.google.com/document/d/13Zd1EEceuXfBeJ96WQZTPVWro-oCJgytaHmjoEHY7Ko/edit. I’m enjoying filling my learning plan out in the morning- Tia.H

Matariki

Matariki is a time to celebrate the earth and remember the dead. People celebrate by planting new seeds and some people have a party and have lots of food and music.

At Matariki 7 stars come out (the 7 sisters) only for a few nights then goes away. If you wake up very early or look at the night sky around 8 you might just see it!

What I have done well this week     

My learning goal was to put in punctuation

This week I have done well in writing. I have completed my paragraph for Mr A’s story and started my own. I think I have done great and I am proud seeing as I have made two paragraphs that are full of wow words. I have improved on putting in lots of punctuation in my story and wow words. I think that open mindedness and curiosity might of helped I wasn’t not open minded or curious but I wish I had been more curious and open minded.

“HHeelloo” declared Wally “However it is go and annoy Mr and Mrs Marywin they deserve a taste of their own medicine” Harriet replied angrily “the irritating couple, boy do they NOT know anything”, “Mum that's not very nice” claimed Wally.

“oh its you come on in I’m so sorry I was just…” being mean about Mr and Mrs Marywin yes I know” whispered Wally “I know you don’t like them but they were like 2nd parents to me and you know that I don’t like you talking about them like that!” mumbled Wally under his breath. “Maybe so but I am your real mother and I command you to not even mention their names or last names in this family they shall now be known as enemies as if we are the British and they are the Turks and they’re names shall be known as a horrid swear word and you are forbidden to see Mr and Mrs Marywin whoops I said the new naughty word! anyway...” “Mum” interrupted Wally “ can I just have some breakfast?”

      This week I have persisted in maths when things got hard like:

• When I tried to print a worksheet and it wouldn’t work: I asked people to help me and when they said that they couldn’t I tried myself.
• and when I got frustrated when I couldn’t answer a question: I kept on thinking about it and going back to try solve it.
• and when I did the IKAN test: the questions went fast and I was put under pressure and I didn’t like it.

      I think I did well in persisting.

 

Inferencing

Inferencing is figuring something out that wasn't quite explained in the story. Inferencing is also thinking about what might happen next like this, Say a girl is just standing in the rain. "I think that the girl will find somewhere sheltered and wait." What do you think?

Personal profile

My names Tia, I go to frankley school. I have a brother and sister. I am good at most subjects but my favourites are History, English and Reading. I like reading at home and dancing. I enjoy swimming but I am a nervous swimmer. My goals are to remember to put punctuation in Writing.

Whats a fraction?

A fraction is part of a whole number. Like this for instance:   1 ½ = 1 and a half. But cannot be used with a whole number. A whole number is a number that has no fraction at the end like 30 or 5.

A fraction is dividing things equally like this:  10 / 2 = ½ of 10

A fraction is the same thing as a decimal but instead of having a slash through the middle it has a dot like this:  1.5  Instead of 1 ½ .So if you're doing half as a decimal you do a .5 and if you’re doing half as a fraction you do a ½ .

ANZAC day ( whats going through my head)

Personally I think war is a horrible place hearing bombs day and night. Hearing people cry in agony pleading for help. People breathing their last breath crying bitterly missing their most loved ones.

I get so teary eyed thinking of any family going through things like a husband or father getting killed. Here is a poem I made about war:

long lost friends

grotesque sights

murderous people

to horrific fights

and that was what it was like in the war.

So now you know war was one of the worst things in the world.

2 Paragraph Writing

This year I have enjoyed writing. I enjoyed it because I have been doing writing on a computer and I like typing and I think I have made it more interesting for me and my audience  by using more descriptive words and language. I think I did well because I've been thinking a bit more about if my story would interest the audience then last year








 This year I made progress in biking. I made progress by........
1. learning hand signals
2. power position
3. lifesaver look
And then once everyone had learnt what to do in biking we all started biking to Waimea round about. Once we arrived we got to bike on the road with the cars. To be honest I was quite nervous and when we stopped started turned corners on even get on the road everyone knew what to do.

My Learning for Week 5

Tia's learning for week 5

This week I have learnt how to read numbers up to a trillion

to make this easy I put coma's in between each 3 numbers

I also put the numbers in a number house like this.

We had learning WALT it was We Are Learning To count numbers up to a trillion and one after one before one hundred after one hundred before and being able to read the numbers

I thought counting numbers to one trillion was quite easy because  I felt like I had done it before  but I don't know when. I think that adding 1000 on in a worksheet was hard. And turning a digit in the million house into a zero on a calculator was pretty tricky. 

I guess I got along well and it was pretty fun I loved counting the numbers it was the most fun maths I've had this year .THANKS FOR TEACHING ME MR A !!!
